This Project is based off of William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', set to a Steampunk Theme. This resulted in the creation of a 1:25 Scale Model of a Steampunk Train/Ship Hybrid which could be used for filming or reference for an actual set.
I created the model with as many genuine materials as possible; so as to achieve an authentic feel to the textures. I used calico for the cloth sails; string as rope; wooden dowel, edging and lollipop sticks to create the paneling; plus
brass, copper and watch parts in numerous metal features.
I based this all on a MDF Base with Polystyrene for extra Shaping of the rear hull. For display, I created a marbled plinth with a terrain base for the model to sit on.
It has been displayed at the Guildhall Museum, Rochester.
